Qantas Wine Show 2015 - Trophy Results

Morning Bridgees,

With so many wine shows out there, it’s hard to know which ones to take note of, but this is the one we here at Old Bridge have been waiting for.

The ‘Qantas Wine Show of Western Australia’ is WA’s premier wine show, judging exclusively Western Australian wines. This year hailed entries from the Great Southern in the states south west to our oldest wine region, the Swan Valley, and everywhere in-between.

This year is the shows 38th year, and saw 1022 entries from 157 different producers. A talented line-up of judges including Rob Diletti and Dan Wegener tasted through all the entries blind, using the 100 point system, and selected the best of the best.

It hasn’t been easy, but we have managed to get super limited allocations of the trophy winners for our valued customers.

Available to order, max 6 bottles per customer, are….

Best White Wine of Show – Zarephath Porongurups Riesling 2015

This wine is unmistakably Porongurup, an alluring nose of flowers and citrus blossom, with an incredible mineral back bone wrapping up balanced fruit on the palate. This wine will live forever.

$25 per bottle ( Max 6 )

Best Rose of Show – Deep Woods Estate Rose 2015

This is the first time a Trophy has been awarded to a Rose at the Qantas show, saying a lot about the quality of this wine. Rose petal, wild strawberry, red apple and savoury spice. This Tempranillo / Shiraz Rose is seriously slurpable.

$23 per bottle ( Max 6 )

Best Red Wine of Show – Amelia Park Margaret River Cabernet Merlot 2014

With fruit sources from two premium sites in Carbunup and Karridale, this producer has back up their success from the Ray Jordan Top 100. A typical premium Margaret River Cab Merlot, with juicy red fruits and structured ripe tannins.

$26 per bottle ( Max 6 )

As they are so limited, first in, best cellar.
