We are pleased to invite you to the next installment of our ‘Wine Among the Cartons’ out the back in the warehouse at Old Bridge Cellars, an exclusive masterclass with Brash Higgins wines hosted by owner and winemaker Brad Hickey.
Brad grew up in Chicago, after finishing his English Lit and Botany degree, he moved to France to throw himself into the wine and food of this culinary powerhouse. Upon his return to the U.S. he was involved in the N.Y.C wine scene, being the first U.S. Sommelier to work under French culinary genius Daniel Boulud at Café Boulud. Brad then took on the role of Wine Director at the world renowned two Michelin starred restaurants Bouley and Danube.
Time visiting vineyards deepened his knowledge of viticulture and winemaking and reignited in him the desire to re-connect with organic processes and creative fermentation techniques.
This quest brought Brad to South Australia in 2007, and his aussie friends quickly nicknamed this bright eyed and brash New Yorker “Brash Higgins”. Brad fell in love with McLaren Vale, and ultimately, with local vigneron Nicole Thorpe. The rest is history, together they are creating some different and interesting wines out of theVale, with the use of Amphora’s and minimal intervention principles.
