Good Morning Bridgees,

I have a couple of polar opposite for this weeks Friday tasting.

Some big luscious reds from Pirramimma in Mclaren Vale, and some amazing value New Zealand wines from Hawkes Bay.

Pirramimma was founded by Alexander Campbell Johnston in 1892 and has been owned and operated by the Johnston family ever since. Tempered by the cooling breezes of the nearby Gulf St. Vincent, McLaren vale has a mild Mediterranean climate which, coupled with the complex rich soil structure, has attained international fame for its rich expressive red wines

Pirramimma Petit Verdot 2010 : The nose displays violets, briary blackberry, kirsch cherries and cigar box oak, the powerful concentrated palate exhibits spicy plum, forest floor, tangy cherry, hints of mulberry and vanilla bean.

 

Pirramimma Old Bush Vine Grenache 2012 :  dry grown bush vines planted in the spring of 1944. Meaty aromas of raspberry, cherry, red licorice and flowers with some vanilla oak showing. On the palate it is medium to full bodied with spicy savoury meaty red fruit and milk chocolate
