We have a bit of an Italian theme going for this week’s FREE Friday night tasting.
Italy is the world’s largest wine producing nation, followed closely by France. They are known for their huge variety of wines, with over 850 varieties recorded and the list is growing yearly. Remarkable!
Etruscans and Greek settlers produced wine in Italy before the Romans started their own vineyards in the 2nd century B.C. Roman grape-growing and winemaking was prolific and well-organized, pioneering large-scale production and storage techniques like barrel-making and bottling.
In the past few years, we have seen a shift toward more ‘New World’ winemaking, with careful attention being paid to winery hygiene and less oxidative wine making techniques, the results being cleaner, more expressive wines.
On tasting this Friday we will have open….
La Vendetta Pinot Grigio 2013 from Delle Venezie
Marq Vermintino 2013 from Margaret River (Italian Variety made by our Cassio Dorus winemaker Mark Warren)
La Vendetta Sangiovese 2012 from Toscana (Tuscany)
Maretti Red Blend 2013 (70% Barbera and 30% Nebbiolo) from Langhe
This will be a great tasting, see you all down here.
