Fridays Tasting - Jay's Picks

  • Old Bridge Cellars 221 Queen Victoria Street North Fremantle, WA, 6159 Australia (map)

As a family owned, independent liquor store, we believe very strongly in supporting small and boutique wineries.

For this Friday's FREE in-store tasting, I will be taking you through some of my favorite little Aussie gems.

I have chosen 6 wines to open, 2 Great Southern, 2 Clare Valley and 2 multi-regional blends from South Australia.

Open this Friday the 1st from 4.00pm will be...

Clos Clare Watervale Riesling 2015

Clos Clare 'The Hayes Boys' Grenache 2012

Clos Clare is owned and run by Sam and Tom Barry, sons of Peter Barry of Jim Barry wines. These wines have extraordinary pedigree, with the Riesling fruit coming off the iconic Flortia vineyards. “One of Australia’s Great White Wines” (Huon Hooke) & “One of the finest Rieslings I have tasted from Australia” (Robert Parker Jr).

Small Change White 2015

Small Change Red 2015

Small Change Wines started with a conversation between two mates about keeping life from stagnating. The simple philosophy is to make wines we enjoy drinking with friends and family any day of the week. Both wines are multi-regional blends, The White is a Verdelho with a dash of Traminer, and the Red is a Merlot, Malbec and Cabernet Franc.

Lillian Marsanne Rousanne 2011

Lillian Lefroy Chardonnay 2013

Lillian is a small, non-irrigated vineyard on Lefroy Brook near Pemberton, planted with the Rhone varieties of Marsanne, Rousanne and Viognier for Whites and Shiraz and Mataro for Reds. The wines are made by John Brocksopp using only local yeasts, French Barrels and a gravity winery. Lillian doesn't show wines and seldom sends wines for review, but can be found in Sydney, Melbourne, Tokyo and Old Bridge Cellars

All open in-store at Old Bridge Cellars, 221 Queen Victoria St, North Fremantle between 4.00pm and 7.00pm this Friday the 1st of April
