Kosovich Wines tasting with winemaker Arch Kosovich

  • Old Bridge Cellars 221 Queen Victoria Street North Fremantle, WA, 6159 Australia (map)
Tomorrow nights FREE Friday night in-store tasting we will have Arch Kosovich, winemaker of Kosovich Wines, here to take you through his current offerings.  John Kosovich Wines was established in 1922 by Johns father Jack and his brothers, who emigrated from Croatia shortly before the outbreak of World War 1. John took over the winemaking at the tender age of 15 more by necessity than a conscious decision to become a winemaker, and in the early days sweet whites (sherry) sold to the Aussies and some 'rough red' that found its way to the local Croatian and European community remained the staple of the business. John realized that these wines were not right for the Perth climate, and in the early 1960's made the bold move to change the vineyard to begin producing dry white wine. Riesling was one of the first new varieties planted, with Chenin Blanc, Chardonnay and Verdelho following. The winery operated under the name Westfield Wines up until 2003 when the decision was made to change the name to honour John Kosovich’s 50th vintage. The winery has continued to grow in leaps and bounds and now also produced exception red wines from their Pemberton vineyard and we look forward to showing you these exceptional creations.  Open tomorrow night will be....  John Kosovich Chenin Blanc 2014 John Kosovich Verdelho 2015 John Kosovich Pemberton Vineyard Chardonnay 2015 John Kosovich Pemberton Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2012 John Kosovich Pemberton Vineyard Reserve Cabernet Malbec 2013 For an added special treat , we will also have a sticky liqueur to finish the night off.  As always, the festivities are kicking off from 4.00pm until 7.00pm.  See you all down here,  Jay and the Old Bridge Team
