One of Perth’s hottest new venues is saying goodbye to Winter a little early this year, with a pre-Spring dinner event paired with LS Merchant wines overlooking the Swan Canning River.
The Rowing Pavilion in Mount Pleasant has teamed up with local liquor store Old Bridge Cellars in Como to host a five-course dinner paired with six wines, one of which will be a new vintage LS Merchants release. On Wednesday 2nd August, guests will be taken through each wine with the team, sharing tasting notes and winemaking techniques along the way.
Originally built in 1962 for the Commonwealth Games, the space is now fondly known as ‘The Pav’, a bustling 280-person upstairs venue. While an idealistic Summer venue, The Pav has recently transformed its terrace space into an enclosed and heated area, perfect for a cosy wine dinner with friends. The Pav was built to be shared through all seasons.
As part of this event, Cowaramup-based winery LS Merchants will be releasing its 2023 Vermentino, the perfect wine to drink on a crisp Perth evening. Grapefruit, lime and chamomile tea come together in a swirl of aromas, with slight powdery fruit tannins, finishing with lemon drop and sea spray on the palate.
On the food front, the kitchen team has crafted a bespoke five-course menu, perfectly paired with each of the LS Merchants wines.
The Rowing Pavilion Owner, Mark Pearn, said The Pav was built with sharing in mind.
“Our community loved to share a bottle of LS Merchants Vermentino last summer. We are very excited to be hosting them at our venue to showcase their great local produce alongside an impressive menu produced by our chefs,” said Mr Pearn.
Old Bridge Cellars Como Proprietor, Aly Forsyth, said they’re looking forward to engaging locals in the area to explore some of their favourite wines.
“LS Merchants produce some amazing wine and is one of our most popular brands in store. We couldn’t think of a better setting to taste through some of the range paired with the food from The Pav. A match made in heaven,” said Mr Forsyth.
Thanks to Old Bridge Cellars, diners will be able to order the LS Merchants wines at a discounted price on the night. The crew will also be giving away a bottle of the new vintage Vermentino to one lucky guest on the night.
