Bridge Closure advice 2026

Always Worth the Trip: Navigating the Bridge Closure

Jan 26, 2026Jay Beeson

From 1 February 2026, access to North Fremantle will change as works on the new Fremantle Traffic Bridge progress. While the bridge itself is changing, North Fremantle is open for business, and Old Bridge Cellars is always worth the trip!

There's a lot of advice out there, so we've boiled it down to the essentials. Here's how you can reach us (and our neighbours) during the bridge closure:

BY CAR

The advice is that communities should consciously reduce unnecessary car use to help keep Freo moving. However, the best approach to reach us by car will be to plan ahead and take the suggested access routes outside of peak hours (opt for: mid-morning, early afternoon, or evenings). It is also anticipated that weekend travel will be smoother.

Tip: download the Live Traffic WA app (on Android and IOS.) It shows up-to-the-minute traffic conditions so you can find the path of least resistance to come and see us!

BY BIKE

For light pick ups, go for pedal power! The good news is the City of Fremantle is giving bike paths into North Freo a bit of love to improve user experience and safety, so 2026 is a great time to break out the pushy.

BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT

Several cost-saving measures are in place to make public transport more accessible during the closure. There is a free travel bus zone between Douro Road and Fremantle Train Station, where you can hop a free train over to North Freo Station and take a short walk down to us!

FREE LOCAL DELIVERY

If you can't get to us, consolidate your purchases to reduce trips, order online and enjoy FREE delivery in the local area from 1 February.
