"This wine came across my desk, and to be honest, I was not that familiar with the winery. I took it home over the weekend and once I had got the baby to bed, I settled down to watch some Olympics and poured out a glass. Oh my gosh!
The nose absolutely leapt out of the glass. Brooding blue and black berries, crushed violets and classy oak. The palate was soft, juicy and comforting. Powerful, ripe, but balanced dark fruits, mocha and sarsaparilla characters layered with complex and silky tannin. I was super impressed.
Don't get me wrong, this is a powerful wine. This 2021 vintage is a blend of 55% Cabernet from the Acacia Ridge Vineyard in Frankland River cleverly blended with a big whack of 45% Celestial Bay Malbec from Margaret River. Open fermenters, hand plunged and aged in new and second-use French Oak for 20 months. This is the last time these two vineyards will ever be combined together as the winery moves on to a different venture.
We were able to secure a large chunk at a fantastic price. This wine sells online for up to RRP $60, but we are going to bring it to you for an unbelievable $22.50 in a 6-pack. Max 2 x 6-packs per person while stocks last to share the love.
