WINE FOR THE PEOPLE - UNICO ZELO BASEMENT DINNER AT YOUNG GEORGE

Feb 17, 2023Meg David

When people as passionate about their craft as Unico Zelo’s Brendan & Laura Carter and Young George’s Melissa Palinkas come together for a dining experience, the result is bound to be pure magic.

Presented by Old Bridge Cellars, food and wine come together in an underground setting for Wine For The People - a basement dinner at Young George in East Fremantle on Thursday 9th March.

There aren’t many brands that align so perfectly with the ethos upheld by renowned WA Chef, Melissa Palinkas. Words and phrases such as sustainability, paddock to plate and minimal intervention are commonplace in her vocabulary. South Australian winery Unico Zelo share the same values.

Unico Zelo is a ground-breaking winery based in the Adelaide Hills, specialising in Italian inspired, Australian made wines of great drinkability and quiet complexity. Owners and Winemakers, Brendan & Laura Carter place great focus on sustainability and are on a mission to create approachable wine for the next generation of wine drinkers, with an overall aim to elevate the global perception of Australian wine.

In an effort to share their passion with the local WA foodies, Unico Zelo will be presenting its ‘Wines for the People’ in a sitdown event paired Chef Melissa's food, with the likes of Akoya, chicken sauce and tobiko making an appearance on the exciting food menu.

The evening will be presented by Old Bridge Cellars - a long time advocate for the Unico Zelo brand here in WA. Proprietor Jay Beeson will be taking guests on a journey through the wines, guiding their palates as they make their way through four courses and eight paired wines.

Owner and Winemaker, Brendan Carter said aligning with like-minded brands across Australia is a great way to share the Unico Zelo story.

“We are looking forward to bringing the ‘Wine for the People’ event to life alongside Old Bridge Cellars and the crew from Young George,” said Mr Carter.

“We make wine for the people. We hope we can assist a disconnected world to reestablish a curiosity and adoration for the land we all collectively belong to, via the sharing of drinks crafted of the land with food, family and friends - building a global community in the process.

The ‘Wine for the People’ dinner will be on Thursday 9th March, 6.30pm. Tickets are $150/head plus booking fee and can be purchased via: https://www.trybooking.com/CGBUF
